July 17 — Problems for the IYPT 2011

The IOC met in Gösing to decide on the set of Problems for 2011.

July 15 — Singapore wins the 23rd IYPT

The winner of this year's IYPT is the Team of Singapore followed by Austria, New Zealand and Korea. More on the results later, now it's time for a party!

July 10 — The IYPT has been officially opened!

President Alan Allinson has just opened the 23rd IYPT. The Fight Schedules will be published soon!

May 23 — Federal President takes honorary patronage

We proudly announce that the Federal President of the Republic of Austria , Dr. Heinz Fischer, has taken honorary patronage of the IYPT2010.

The website of the Federal President's office explains what this means:
"The Federal President’s honorary patronage is intended for large interregional, charitable, scientific and cultural events. Applications for honorary patronage must not only demonstrate the event’s significance to our country, but also ensure that the project is legally protected, its financing has been established, and its implementation is feasible from an organisational standpoint. Honorary patronage by the President cannot be shared with any other leading figures (except foreign heads of state)."

March 20 — Registration started

Our registration system has just gone live! Emails with account data (username and password) will be sent to everyone who has pre-registered soon. Please be aware that this system has been custom made by us – so it is certainly not bug free. If you encounter any problems, please don’t hesitate to contact us!

March 02 — Pre-Registration Finished

The deadline for pre-registration has passed on March 01 2010. 27 teams have pre-registered. Detailed information on the actual registration will be published and sent to the pre-registered teams soon.

February 20 — Visiting Teachers

This year's IYPT Visiting Teachers' Programme will enable teachers to watch physics fights, to discuss physics issues with jurors, to find out the main criteria for success in physics fights to have contacts with the students and to find out the motives for participation in a very challenging competition, to meet fellow teachers with interest in working with gifted students, to try out for themselves IYPT problems of previous years, and to explore Vienna and some of its science institutions. December 21 — Blog

Think of this blog as an experiment – I can’t say yet, what we will write about or if this will work at all. But hey, it’s 2010 – so the IYPT definatly needs some web 2.0

December 9 — Registration

The Pre-Registration will work via Email. Later, in March 2010, everyone who has preregistered will be sent a user name and password to use for our registration system.
The schedule is preliminary. More details will be added later.

November 22 — Updates

Since its lanch there have been many updates to this website. We have added a page about austria , collected some examples of what IYPT reports look like and even added a whole new section dedicated to press releases . There's much more to come, so check back often!

October 18 — IYPT Website online

The website for the IYPT2010 is online now. More information about the upcoming tournament will be published as it becomes available. So make sure to check back regularly!

September 27 — LOC Meeting

The LOC for the IYPT2010 holds its constitutive meeting in Vienna and officially commences work.

July 2009 — IYPT2010 to be hosted in Austria

The IOC decides to have Austria host the IYPT2010. Thus, Austria will be the first country (except Russia) to host the IYPT for a second time.
